I went to the doctors today because my psychiatrist wants me to have blood tests done. The gp was checking my chest, heart and glans. I am supprised he didn't check my blood pressure and colestral. I am 26 years old. Tomorrow I am going to get tests for kidneys and liver plus a fast glucos test. I hope it is all clear. My mum has diobetis. I have got enough medication as it is. infact I think I might have tomuch. The reason for theese tests is for the psychiatrist before he makes any more changes to my Venlafaxine for depression.
well, good luck with that, and as for the tests you have nothing to worry about
Why did you feel the need to give us your full history christ! you are a blatant attention seeker. Venlafaxine is not used to treat depression, it is a hormonal treatment for PMS, it's handy having a friend who's a medical student.
Venlafaxine is used for Depression and Epilepsy and maybe more things. I am not looking for attension. I have clynical depression.
Believe me, she's not looking for attention. I'm not that keen on blood tests since I had to have a blood test when I was five, and it was left to this young idiot student doctor/nurse to do it. He couldn't find the vein, so he just kept sticking the needle in anywhere till he eventually did find one. I've had quite a bad phobia of needles since then and always dreaded the annual flu jabs we all had to have in school. If I need a blood test now, mum and the nurse usually get me talking about something completely irrelevant so I don't think about what's going to happen when they've tightened the strap round my fore-arm. I'm also hyposensative, so it hurts me probably two or three times more than it would hurt someone else if they have a blood test.
CG, I've had epilepsy for quite some time and never, have I heard of a drug designed to combat the distressing symptoms of PMS, used to control seizures. I just wonder why you want us to pay such strong attention to your health problems, personally we can do without it. A friend of mine had Diamond Blackfan Aneamia he had transfusions every 5 weeks, his arms were marked and bruised like a junkie, but he never complained. You definately want us to know every single detail of your life, if that isn't attention seeking then what is.
No I don't want you to know everything about my life. This boared is about health problems. Thanks to who ever said about me not looking for attension.
what is diamond blackfan anemia.
never heard of that. what are the symptoms?
just curious.
anyway, i had a blood test as a routine 4 years ago.
one of these nurses couldn't find my vains so she poked me all over to.
she even put a huge nedle in my arm to se if the blood would come out, but nothing
that left a needle mark on my forearm.
Its a blood disorder and quite rare the child is born with DBA and from birth, the bone marrow is unable to produce sufficient red blood cells causing persistant anaemia, the only cure is a bone marrow transplant. My friend had one last year, and he's a different guy now. There are physical charcteristics that give the disease away but DBA varies in severity, so they're not always apparent with every child
I've had a spurter that gave the student nurse a real fright. A stream of bright red blood shot up in a perfect arc,it was beautiful apparently, how it caught the light, Dracula would have loved it.
Well I had a blood test done quite some time ago and believe me my doctor wasn't pleased with it at all. She says my cholesterol is too high for my age at 22. 241 is my cholesterol level which I don't think it too too high, but you know doctors these days. They want your health to be spick and span clean and that's how my doc is. Very strict. So strict I think she's not my doctor but my mother. So I have 2 mothers now? Lol anyways I'm also being checked because I have chronic anemia but she isn't to fussy about that thank God.
